CEE Competition Law Case Competition

We are announcing the first CEE Competition Law Case Competition organized by ELSA Budapest and ELSA Hungary, in collaboration with ELSA Slovakia and ELSA Bratislava, ELSA Czechia and ELSA Prague with the support of Baker McKenzie.

If you are interested in competition and antitrust law, and you would like to test your knowledge and gain valuable experience in this field, this competition offers the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself and apply your skills in a practical, real-world setting, with the involvement of a leading international law firm of Baker McKenzie, competing with other students from the Central European region. Our goal is to create a platform for law students where they can connect with each other through their shared interests and find inspiration for their future legal careers, across borders.

The course of the competition

The competition contains three rounds: the first is an online quiz, the second involves solving a case in writing to select the national champions advancing to the final round, which involves solving an international case and oral presentation of the solution before an esteemed jury in Budapest.

1st round

To apply, you must complete the first round online quiz consisting of 10 questions which will be available from February 25 until March 15. The quiz contains multiple-choice questions and some short-answer questions, and the competitor has 60 minutes to answer them.

2nd round

The highest-performing ten competitors from each country will advance to the second round. They have to solve a complex legal case online between March 25 and April 5. Any source may be used to solve the case, but the solution must be entirely the work of the competitor.

Final

The top three competitors from each country selected in the second round will advance to the finals, which will be held on 8 May, at the Baker McKenzie office in Budapest, Hungary. The finalists' task will be to solve a complex legal case and present their solution orally in front of the judges. The best three competitors are rewarded with the following prizes:
